Setting Up Parental Controls In MSN 9

If a customer wishes to restrict secondary accounts from being able to view potentially objectionable online content, parental controls can be set up for any sub-account. This means that the user with parental controls must sometimes ask for permission to view sites that MSN thinks might be a little too far towards the dark side. The primary account will get an email of this request or can check for pending requests from any user at any time. Setting up these controls is fairly simple.

Setting Parental Controls

  1. Click on Help & Settings, and Set Parental Controls.

  2. All sub-accounts currently associated to the primary account are listed. Click on one to set the level of protection for that account.

  3. It will ask you to choose an age group for that user which would most closely suit what's appropriate or not for them. Put a dot next to whichever level you want and click Accept.

  4. it will take just amoment to apply the settings to that user.

  5. The new permissions for that user are shown.

  6. In the future, when the customer receives a request for website access or to add someone to MSN Messenger, they will be shown pending requests and be able to allow or deny the request.
